Educational administrators play an essential role in special education programs to ensure that students with disabilities receive the necessary supports to succeed.

Increase in Demand

The demand for special education administrators has grown as the need for services increases and new educational technologies are implemented. This is due to the increasing number of students with special needs, the implementation of new technologies and policies to support them, and the need for programs to be more efficient and cost-effective.

Effectiveness

Administrators are responsible for managing the program budget, developing the curriculum, and ensuring that the special education program meets all state and federal regulations while recruiting and training staff, evaluating program effectiveness, and collaborating with other professionals to ensure the success of the program.

Course Outcomes

This program will prepare learners for job titles including Principal, Assistant Principal, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and Director or Coordinator of Academic Inclusion.

 

 

 

At the elementary and secondary school level, salaries for educational administrators can range from $50,000 to over $150,000 annually. The median salary for all school principals is around $95,000.

 

 

This program will equip learners with the following skills:

This program will equip learners with the following work competencies:

  • Identify and describe a variety of common learning disabilities and their associated behaviors and/or attributes.
  • Demonstrate ways to communicate the culture and mission of inclusivity in all aspects of school communications and programs.
  • Apply findings from data collection and analysis to improve systems and protocols within the school community to promote academic inclusion.
  • Develop policies, procedures, protocols, and communications that counteract barriers to inclusion and proactively negate obstacles that might occur when creating a climate conducive to inclusion and a culture of belonging.
  • Describe a continuum of services within a multitiered framework of supports.
